G. Ofori Anor is one of the widely known and highly respected individuals in the African immigrant community of the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut Tri-State Metropolitan Area. His oratorical talents and eloquence has made him into a popular and a highly sought-after host of public and private events and celebrations. Indeed, he has brought these skills to the world renowned HBO media giant working as between rounds commentator/translator in boxing fights involving Ghanaian athletes since 2000.
As co-founder and Publisher/Editor-in Chief, he steered the ASENTA Newspaper to become one of the most respected and independent newsmagazines within the African immigrant community. While at it, he hosted a regular spot on WLIB 1190AM Radio that featured the first and only live on air link-up of a radio station in Ghana (Radio Gold) to a major radio station in the United States. His insightful analysis of news, editorial commentary and satirical prose are still quoted and will be for a long time to come.
During the 2000 US Census, he served as the consulting advisor for advertisement and programs targeted at the African immigrant community in the area. It was at this time that he also worked as the Media Consultant for the now defunct Ghana Airways. As a community activist and organizer, he is fearlessly committed to the building of institutions that would enable Africans to define and propel their community and cultural values out of the fringes into the mainstream of American societal discourse.
To this end he has helped found and, or, hold top leadership positions in organizations such as the Center for African Initiatives, the African Media Coalition, Safe Societies Incorporated, the Ghana Cultural School, National Council of Ghanaian Associations, Okuapeman Fekuw Inc etc. Ask him and he will tell you that he is only an educator, student and scholar imbued with a fearless and unapologetic passion and desire to study and tell the African's story in a way that only the African can tell to a world that would rather not listen.
